Alison is a founding Director of Barham Glen Architects, with more than 35 years’ experience, largely in the social housing sector. She has a wealth of experience in community, conservation, sustainable and ecological projects and newbuild housing design.
A particular interest in accessibility, inclusive environments and designing for people with varying needs, led Alison to train as an Access Consultant, becoming an NRAC Registered Access Consultant in 2005.
She has been an ongoing member of the judging panel for the Glasgow Herald Property Awards since 2010.
Alison is treasurer of the City of Glasgow Wind Orchestra, a community based wind orchestra, in which she has played clarinet for more than 40 years.
She is assistant secretary and a trustee of her church, as well as providing technical advice to the building and facilities team. She also produces the quarterly church newsletter.
Alison became a Board member in September 2024.
